Medical Writer, Broadstreet Health Economics and Outcomes Research

We are an independent consultancy in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, specializing in epidemiology and health economics, with a particular focus on creating customized solutions to best meet our clients’ diverse needs.  Our team is comprised of epidemiologists, health economists, statisticians, and IT specialists. Our projects are led by senior team-members with extensive experience across a wide range of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) studies. We have an extensive network of external academic and clinical experts who collaborate on studies that lie within their core areas of expertise. We are looking to hire an experienced medical writer with the scientific knowledge and writing skills to effectively and clearly communicate the outcomes of our HEOR studies, through the development of manuscripts, clinical summaries, technical reports, and other study-specific documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the client and internal scientific team to understand the nature of the scientific work conducted;
  • On an as needed basis, conduct self-directed literature searches and review to understand the background for new disease areas or project types;
  • Compile, write, and edit HEOR-related medical writing deliverables, including clinical and economic dossiers, reports, abstracts, and manuscripts;
  • Preparing abstracts and manuscripts for submission to target conferences and journals in accordance with published requirements; and
  • As necessary, coordinating junior team members to assist or contribute to writing deliverables.

Job qualifications and abilities:

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Health Economics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Services Research, or equivalent experience
  • A strong communicator with meticulous attention to detail, and solid organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of English grammar with a familiarity with a standard style guide
  • Ability to interpret and present clinical data and other complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Familiarity with the principles of clinical or HEOR research
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Be able to quickly grasp the key features of a new disease area or project type
  • 3-5 years of experience with scientific technical writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.

Project Manager, Health Economics and Outcomes Research

Our team is comprised of epidemiologists, health economists, statisticians, and IT specialists. Our projects are led by senior team-members with extensive experience across a wide range of HEOR studies. We are looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to lead projects and mentor staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Epidemiological study design
  • Contributing to epidemiologic and economic models
  • Scientific writing
  • Statistical analysis (dependent on experience and training)
  • Conducting systematic literature review and evidence synthesis projects
  • Leading client communications
  • Managing time, budget, and allocated resources on projects
  • Mentoring junior team members

Education:

  • MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Health Economics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or Public Health, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience managing health research projects in a consultancy or academic capacity.
  • Strong independent working skills
  • Managerial, leadership and project management skills – Excellent oral and written communication
  • Organizational, multi-tasking and problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently within a team environment as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required, as well as familiarity with at least one statistical package.
